It was 1989, the debut episode of the 'Holmes' current affairs TV show in NZ. The late Sir Paul Holmes pushed America's Cup yachtsman, Dennis Conner, to apologise for controversial comments and Connor walked off the set - with a live camera all ready in position to catch him strutting. I loved it.
I was thrilled by the fierce competition of the America's Cup, and that night, I decided I wanted to produce this bold 'Holmes' TV show. (A decade later I did, alongside the inimitable Leon Sefton.) So, as you can imagine, I was like a kid at Christmas when the remarkable Valeriya Barybina and PhysicsX team allowed us to support their production as they described their engineering partnership with GB1 and Athena Racing in the lead-up to the next America's Cup.
The story (below) of what the PhysicsX platform brings to high-performance teams is far more interesting than my little anecdote, but I thought any Kiwis in my network might enjoy that little piece of nostalgia. (Counting down to the races now!)
